Sufism and Stuff...

Yup...
I decided to change the "template".
This one has big fat juicy letters... I kinda dig it.
(But knowing me, I'll probably change my mind about it in a couple days)

Listening to : 99.7 ("Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve is playing)

Wearing: Brown

Eating: Nothing

Drinking: Nothing

Feeling: Sleepy & cold

Latest Obsession: Sufism. Yes. The Sufi sect of Islam. Also known as "Islamic Mysticism". Yes. Those guys who say "Allah 7ay" and spin in an almost trance-like state...
I could go on and on and on about this topic. I've been reading about it non-stop for about 2 weeks. I have been driving everybody around me crazy about it. I keep talking about it. Sending random Sufi quotes via phone messages etc.... So I won't write a lot about it here.
You can feel free to check it out for yourselves:
Here are a few sites (there are so many)

A positive view:

A negative view:

I'll let you make up your own mind..........

Quote of the day:
Eskimo: "If I did not know about God and sin, would I go to hell?"
Priest: "No, not if you did not know."
Eskimo: "Then why did you tell me?"
---Annie Dillard

Haiku of the day:
Sufi mania
Wool-wearers in ecstasy
You spin me round round...

[How'd ya like that reference to the 80's song "you spin me round (like a record) by Dead or Alive]

And I will leave you with the following thought:
"Love the pitcher less, and the water more".
(An old Sufi saying -- obviously referring to the appreciation of what is internal, as opposed to external).

Comments:
umm I do not like this template, the pukey one was better. You need to change.

"Love the pitcher less, and the water more", is it only me, or did anyone else get a different idea after reading the first three words than what is meant?

Ho Ha Ho
Ha Ho Ha
Ha Ha Ho

W: You're right. It IS more of a lifestyle... Thanks for the insight... I will definitely look into it :)

.... My father sat me down one day and told me aaaaall about the Sufis. In fact, he told me more than I ever WANTED to know. He's like obsessed with them or something.

Anyways supposedly you can see a light (enlightenment)? ... and there's astral projection as well... They believe that the prophet Mohammed (pbuh) used astral projection when he was on his pilgrimmage to Mecca because the time doesn't fit if he had actually done it physically. Not too sure.

The way they chant sounds creepy. Lots of breathing involved, china yoga ma yoga :P

Oh please don't get me wrong. I didn't mean to offend anyone or anything. I just talk (type) before I think.

What's a dervish?
